Buffalo Cooperative Federal Credit Union: News

Feb 08 2010 : More & More scams!

Note that financial regulators (NCUA and FDIC) do not contact depositors directly via email or phone texting.  Nor do we, or any other financial institution, use those means to request verification of personal info.  Simillarly, VISA does not generally contact cardholder directly.

Our fraud monitoring service is provided through the Credit Union Association of New York by a company called Covera.  They are also the people you contact when you need to report your debit card lost or stolen.  So if, in the heat of the moment you think you may have fallen for one of these scams and given out your card info, or if your card was lost or stolen, call them right away to block your card!  1-800-453-4270  If you block your card before any fraudulent activity is authorized by the system, we will waive the $15.00 replacement fee.

If we need to contact you specifically, we will use the secure messaging system built into our homebanking  or send you a letter via the United States Post Office.  If you contact us via email, we will respond in kind, though we will try to refrain from sending any personal info in the body of the message.
