| July 2007 : Exciting Changes at Your Credit Union | Effective June 30, 2007, the Buffalo Cooperative FCU merged with the Adam Plewacki Post 799 FCU. The Buffalo Cooperative FCU is the continuing credit union. Two board members from the APP799 FCU will join our board.
All members (old and new) will benefit from this merge. On Tuesdays, BCFCU members will be able to conduct transactions at our second office which is located at 385 Paderwski Drive in Buffalo directly opposite the Central Terminal on Buffalo’s east side. We are very excited about the East meets West aspects of this merger!

| January 2007 : BCFCU Leverages CDFI Status | The Buffalo Cooperative Federal Credit Union (BCFCU) is one of a small number of credit unions across the United States with assets under $25 million, which has been certified as a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) by the Department of the Treasury. Recently, the BCFCU made use of this certification and its designation by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) as a low-income credit union to accept two nonmember deposits. read more...

| October 2006 : Understanding the Uniqueness of Credit Unions | With the emergence of large credit unions in today's financial marketplace, it has become all too easy to lose sight of what makes credit unions unique. Some credit unions have grown so large and their service has become so impersonal that a member could easily forget that they belong to an organization which has a mission to serve its members first. In fact, the baking industry has tried, unsuccessfully so far, to exploit this development in its attempt to repeal the tax-exempt status of credit unions. In response to banking industry attacks, the credit union movement observes International Credit Union Week each year during the third week of October to ensure that members and public awareness remains focused on the uniqueness of credit unions. read more...
