Sprout Up Savings Youth Program

We are proud to furnish a nurturing environment for the children in our communtiy where they can learn cooperative values and fundamental financial literacy skills.  The BCFCU serves as a caring place for young people to grasp the essential qualities that will carry them into adulthood.

Being a BCFCU Youth comes with all the perks that one could wish for, such as:  ►select products designed for those aged 0-18  ►specialized dividend rate on shares  ►ownership rights to the credit union  ►new member fee waiver  ►minimum balance of just $5.00 ►access to fun, educational online games

To ensure a good fit for everyone, there are three different branches of the Sprout Up Savings program that grow with our youngsters to fit their needs.  We strive to please all ages, from our newborn members to teenagers, and beyond!

Seedling Savers (0-9)

All Seedling Savers will receive an official BCFCU membership card with their name and account number on it, along with a reward card that will help to track deposits and earn cool prizes when the card is all filled up.  We also offer "lightning allowance," which is a deposit into a youth account directly from a parent/guardian's account or paycheck.  As Seedlings are our youngest members, we require a parent/guardian signature for any withdrawal from the account.

           Super Sprouts (10-15)

Super Sprouts, like the younger Seedlings, receive an official BCFCU membership card with their name and account number on it, and a reward card for tracking deposits and earning great prizes.  They can receive lightning allowance, too.  Since Sprouts are at an age where they can understand the concept of money, they may make withdrawals on their own, without the signature of a parent/guardian.

Savvy Saplings (16-18)

Savvy Saplings are just one step away from becoming independent young adults, so we encourage them to get familiar with the products that they will need in the near future.  Upon completion of the BCFCU's financial literacy class, they may be eligible to open a checking account with a debit card.  To assist them in keeping track of their account activity, they may sign up for online banking, too.  With a strong co-signer, Saplings may also be able to take out loans to purchase items such as a new computer or bike, or possibly even their first car!
